President

Corey Griffin

corey@vega-corp.com

Corey has spent his entire life around Vega—from sweeping construction sites as a kid to borrowing the original Tennessee Aquarium blueprints for an 8th grade speech. After obtaining a civil engineering degree from the University of Tennessee, he spent two decades as a project manager before succeeding his father, Jimmy, as president. Much of his time now is spent teaching the next generation what Jimmy taught him—principles like always go above and beyond what a client asks of you.
Senior Vice President

Brent McCurdy

brent@vega-corp.com

In the footsteps of his grandfather, Brent began in construction at a very young age. From apprentice to project manager, he rose through the ranks of the industry—mostly with Vega. Currently serving as our senior vice president, he still attends to the project demands of his clients. Brent has always been one of Vega’s best at developing repeat clients because of his whatever-it-takes mindset and customer loyalty. Brent’s regular clients include Memorial Hospital, Baylor School, Blue Cross Blue Shield, AT&T, WR Grace, Olin, and CBRE.
Controller

Carl Vicars

carl@vega-corp.com

After spending his early career in the banking industry, Carl is in his 3rd decade as controller for Vega. Consulting professionals consistently say his internal accounting of Vega stands tall in our industry, making their jobs easier. His expanded responsibilities include accounts receivables, human resources, and contracts review.
Vice President of Constructon

Chris Smith

chris@vega-corp.com

Currently our longest tenured employee, Chris has already given Vega a long and successful career—a career of managing some of Vega’s largest projects. Since he knows how a Vega project should be run as well as anyone, he enjoys passing on his experiences with our aspiring supervisors. Included in those experiences is an extensive history in concrete formwork and construction. Chris’ regular clients include Chattem, Liberty Tower, Republic Centre, TVA, and YMCA Camp Ocoee.
Vice President of Estimating

Michael Quarles

michael@vega-corp.com

After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in civil engineering, Michael began with Vega in 2006, learning the estimating profession. Today, he manages most of our preconstruction activities. Those roles include estimating, procurement, and serving as project engineer for review and processing of shop drawings—essentially most of our projects are initiated by Michael. In addition to preconstruction services, he is also the project manager for Unum and Knoxville-area TVA work.
Project Manager

Hunter Whisenant

hunterw@vega-corp.com

One of Vega’s fastest climbers, Hunter quickly showed Vega that he was capable of being a leader and became a superintendent in less than one year of employment. After several years as a project superintendent, Hunter continues to work with his same clients as project manager. He also assists Brent on many other projects. One of his clients recently said that Vega’s future remains bright with young people like Hunter on board. Hunter’s regular clients include Parkridge Hospital, Regions Bank, SVN Property Management, and TVA.
Service Manager and Trade Educator

Chris Bush

chrisb@vega-corp.com

Too energetic to sit behind a desk, Chris prefers to teach Vega’s carpenters how to execute their craft the right way. Proving our commitment to quality, Vega pulled one of our best project superintendents in order to mentor all of the skilled workers providing our end product. A Marine, Chris was the first of many Vega employees to arrive via the Helmets to Hardhats program. Another of his strong passions is maintaining our 5-decade relationship with AT&T—a relationship that began with Southcentral Bell.
Office Manager

Michelle Lopez

michelle@vega-corp.com

Having previously worked with Carl in the banking sector, Michelle was recruited by him to join Vega in the early 2000s. Since that time, she has balanced being a mother of four children with keeping Vega’s office in order. In addition to her role as office manager, Michelle is also responsible for accounts payable.
Safety Director and Project Assistant

Hunter McCurdy

hunterm@vega-corp.com

Early on, Hunter had an interest in construction and decided he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. Soon after becoming a fulltime Vega employee, Hunter quickly became a safety supervisor on TVA projects. After many years of executing site specific safety plans, pre-job briefs, orientations, and refreshers, Hunter now serves as Vega Safety Director managing our Health and Safety Program. He is a Certified Safety Manager as certified by the National Association of Safety Professionals and has completed OSHA levels up to 510.
